AI inference company Fireworks AI has acquired real-time computing and server orchestration platform Hathora, SiliconANGLE reported on March 9 local time.
The acquisition was carried out to secure infrastructure and talent.
Fireworks AI CEO Lin Qiao (린 차오) stressed that game infrastructure requires speeds measured in milliseconds per second, and that this is also essential for AI inference.
Founded in 2022, Hathora built a container orchestration platform spanning 14 regions, two bare-metal providers and four clouds. It supported real-time game server infrastructure for Splitgate 2, Stormgate and Predecessor, and recently expanded into an AI voice model marketplace.
Fireworks plans to accelerate its global computing platform through the acquisition of Hathora and build ultra-low-latency, high-performance AI infrastructure. Lin said the AI industry is currently focused on text-based generative AI, but the rise of multimodal AI and agent-based AI will make ultra-fast interaction essential.
