Cybersecurity company Genians said on Sunday it will expand its Bug Bounty programme across all products and services to eliminate security blind spots and respond proactively to cyber threats.
Global IT companies such as Google, Apple and Amazon are also actively running bug bounty programmes to find vulnerabilities in their products and services and strengthen security. Genians plans to keep strengthening companywide systems from receiving vulnerability reports to processing and rewards.
Genians is the first in South Korea's security industry to implement its own bug bounty system. The company said it received a total of 827 vulnerability reports from March 2022 to the end of last year.
Genians' bug bounty coverage had been limited to its network access control solution, or NAC, and its cloud customer management service, or CSM. It will now be expanded to cover all products and services managed by Genians. Third-party hosting services and solutions are excluded. The policy applies in global environments as well as in South Korea.
Chief Executive Dong-beom Lee (이동범) said, "This expanded operation of the bug bounty is not a simple policy change, but an expression of our will to accept real threats and clarify the scope of security responsibility." He added, "We will continue to strengthen cooperation with security communities at home and abroad to continuously advance the security level of our products and services."
