LG Display CEO Jung Cheol-dong said on Thursday in a New Year message that the company will make 2026 a turning point toward growth centered on profitability. Jung laid out a plan to strengthen technology leadership and become a company chosen by customers. He said the goal is to secure a stable profit structure and a foundation for future growth across all business areas and enter a phase of management normalization.
Jung said the company has rebuilt fundamentals and restored customer trust, and must now innovate into a technology-centered company. He said it should make customers feel they have no choice but to choose LG Display. He presented securing top-tier technology, advancing technology-based cost innovation and accelerating AX, or AI transformation, across all areas as this year’s key tasks.
Jung said customers demand products that have both differentiated technology and cost competitiveness, and he will concentrate resources and capabilities on technology for future customers. He said securing top-tier technology is a strategy focused on core technology areas where entry barriers are possible. He said the company will move toward a technology-centered company with mid- to long-term technology leadership.
Jung said cost innovation is a way to protect profitability against external volatility. He said structural improvements are needed to cut costs through technology. He said the company will build an advanced cost-innovation system to secure profitability.
He also said accelerating AX aims to build an autonomous Agentic AI system that sets and executes its own goals. Jung called for advancing AI by function and spreading an AX culture. He said the company plans to maximize productivity through AX across all areas, including research and development, production and quality.
Jung said, "We must stand at the starting line with confidence and new thinking," and added, "Based on mutual trust, let us become a strong one team and make 2026 a year in which we 반드시 achieve the results we want."
