The government said on Feb. 9 that a digital leadership training programme for Asian Development Bank (ADB) managers is being held in Seoul and the surrounding metropolitan area through Feb. 11.
The event is a training course to strengthen senior ADB officials' capabilities in digital transformation and the use of artificial intelligence. It will be run as field-based training where participants directly see and experience cases in which South Korea's digital and AI technologies are applied to actual city operations and industrial sites.
The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Ministry of Economy and Finance expect the programme to help seek ways to apply South Korea's digital transformation experience and AI-based innovation cases to development projects in regional member countries, and to contribute to sustainable growth in member countries.
In welcoming remarks, Choi Ji-young (최지영), director-general for international economic affairs at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Kim Kyung-man (김경만), head of the Artificial Intelligence Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stressed that digital and AI technologies can boost productivity and play an important role in solving global challenges. The government plans to continue cooperating with the ADB on stable energy supply to support the spread of AI and on stabilising supply chains for critical minerals.
