Wemade Max said on Sunday that Wemade Connect has signed a licensing agreement to begin developing a mobile game based on the original intellectual property 'HundredNote' from Japan's publishing and content company Kodansha.
HundredNote is a mystery and deduction IP from Kodansha that was unveiled in May 2023. A web animation using the IP has recorded cumulative 1.6 billion views on YouTube, while the official YouTube channel has logged more than 1.6 million total subscribers, drawing strong interest from a global fandom.
Wemade Connect will develop a collectible idle RPG using the HundredNote IP. It plans to incorporate the original world in which players solve cases alongside various characters in a city where public safety has deteriorated due to rising crime in the near future. It also aims to produce a female-oriented subculture title by appropriately combining investigation, combat and collection elements into the main story flow.
Wemade Connect CEO Lee Ho-dae (이호대) said, "Based on its past experience servicing games in Japan, Wemade Connect has accumulated development and operations know-how for titles based on local IP." He added, "We will newly interpret HundredNote, which has appealing characters and strong expandability, into a game and present it as a work that can meet the expectations of global users."
The HundredNote IP-based mobile game is under development with the aim of an official launch in the fourth quarter. The company plans to release it first in Japan and then sequentially expand service coverage to global markets, including South Korea.
