Kwak No-jung, CEO of SK Hynix, said in a New Year message on Thursday that the company must secure a technological edge and speed competitiveness in the AI memory market. He said the company achieved record results in 2025, but a rise in AI demand has become a constant and competition has intensified, making it a time when new challenges are needed.
Kwak said, "With the one-team spirit of employees and management, plus support at the group level, we achieved qualitative and quantitative growth," and added, "We are grateful to shareholders and stakeholders." The company set a goal of leaping into a top-tier company on the back of last year's results.
SK Hynix assessed that it has secured a leading position in the AI memory market, but the roles and responsibilities required of it have grown. Kwak said, "Beyond simply becoming No. 1, we will serve as a partner that puts customer satisfaction first," and explained, "We will become a company that contributes to society's sustainable development."
The company plans to expand investment for the future while maintaining an SKMS-based technological edge and profitability-focused management. SKMS is the SK group's management philosophy framework and refers to the SK Management System. Kwak said, "We must develop advanced technologies and next-generation products ahead of others to cement our position, and we must also push ahead with the adoption of AI technology at speed to strengthen competitiveness."
Kwak then said, "We should maximise motivation from leading the industry, but the SUPEX spirit of boldly taking on challenges, a humble attitude and a culture of collaboration must also continue," and stressed, "It is important to complete the one-team spirit through intense technological and strategic discussions."
The company plans to break away from existing frameworks to creatively propose and implement the value customers need in order to leap into a full-stack AI memory creator. It aims to move up a step from its previous role as a provider. Kwak said, "We will provide differentiated products to customers, present a clear vision for the future and establish ourselves as the most trusted partner."
