[DigitalToday reporter Jin-ho Lee (이진호)] KT will carry out administrative termination of mobile telecommunications lines that have been suspended and left unused for a long period.

On March 9, KT said in a notice on its website that it will implement administrative termination for regularly unused mobile lines. The termination will apply to phone or smart-device lines for which suspension was requested before March 2023 and that have remained suspended to date. The scheduled termination date is March 30 to 31.

The move is based on Articles 16 and 17 of the WCDMA terms of service and Articles 15 and 16 of the 5G terms of service. KT said it is intended to prevent suspended lines from being used by others or misused for voice phishing.

Customers holding the affected lines who do not want administrative termination must visit an agency or plaza, or contact the customer service center, by March 25 to change the status to "in use".
