TechCrunch reported on Feb. 6 that Reddit is actively pushing to acquire AI and ad tech companies.

At its fourth-quarter earnings release, Reddit CFO Andrew Vollero (앤드류 볼레로) said, "We will expand our user base by acquiring companies that can leverage Reddit's scale."

Reddit posted fourth-quarter revenue of $726 million, and advertising revenue accounted for $690 million. Daily active users (DAU) also rose 19 percent year-on-year to 121.4 million. Reddit has recently been focusing on acquisitions of AI and ad tech companies. It acquired AI ad-optimisation company Memorable AI in August 2024, and in 2022 acquired AI platform Spell, ad-targeting company Spiketrap, machine learning-based content management company Oterelu, and text analytics company MeaningCloud.

Reddit plans to strengthen AI search and ad-optimisation technology to maximise advertising revenue.
