K Bank said on March 9 it has launched a limited run of 50,000 ONE check cards in partnership with Pingu, a globally popular character.

Pingu is a clay animation featuring a young penguin in Antarctica. It has been loved worldwide for a long time thanks to the character's curious and mischievous side. Pingu's distinctive sound effects and humorous scenes have recently returned as short-form social media content and memes, establishing it as a popular character favored from millennials to Generation Alpha.

Reflecting the trend, K Bank introduced four card designs featuring Pingu, his sister Pinga and friends.

K Bank's ONE check card has rolled out various character editions, including Toadori, Kkamja, Chimchakman, Wallace and Gromit, drawing strong responses. The five limited editions previously released sold out in succession.

To mark the launch, the bank will run a draw promotion through March 31 for Pingu merchandise. Customers can participate by getting a Pingu edition card during the promotion period, posting a photo of the card on their own social media and making a payment of at least 1,000 won. The bank will select 100 participants to receive Pingu dolls and automatic umbrellas.

A K Bank official said the edition was planned to help customers feel enjoyment in everyday life by using Pingu, which has recently been loved by all ages through short-form videos and social media. The official said the bank will continue to roll out differentiated character collaborations and events so customers can enjoy fun and benefits at the same time in their day-to-day financial lives.
