[DigitalToday reporter Ho-jung Lee] NCSoft is introducing Lineage Classic, which captures the early look of Lineage.
On Thursday, NCSoft said it will simultaneously pre-open the PC massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Lineage Classic in South Korea and Taiwan at 8 p.m. on Feb. 7.
Lineage Classic is a game that implements an early-2000s version of Lineage, which NCSoft has operated since 1998. It includes 4 classes — monarch, knight, elf and wizard — and early content such as Talking Island, Dragon Valley and the Giran area. It applies a past interface familiar to users, a feature that evokes nostalgia for the original.
The service will be offered for free during the pre-open period from Feb. 7 to Feb. 10. It will then switch to a monthly subscription from 10 a.m. on Feb. 11, with the pass priced at 29,700 won.
It will also run launch events. Through March 25, it will hold a "Rare Character Name Preemption Time Attack" event. Users can receive rewards by completing designated missions such as being the first to reach a certain level or landing the final blow to defeat a boss monster.
It has also prepared benefits for PC bang users. When logging in from a PC bang, users receive the "Suspicious Energy" buff that grants additional defense, and they can enter PC bang-exclusive dungeons such as the Talking Island Dungeon and the Gludio Dungeon. Users can also obtain "Pixie's Feather," which can be exchanged for various consumables depending on play time.
