[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang (황치규)] OpenAI’s annualised revenue surpassed $25 billion as of last month. The Information reported on March 4 (local time) that the figure is up about 17 percent from $21.4 billion at the end of last year.
OpenAI leads rival Anthropic in revenue, but the gap is narrowing.
Anthropic’s annualised revenue also topped $19 billion. That is double the level at the end of last year and up 36 percent from two weeks earlier.
Strong sales of coding AI models drove the revenue increase. OpenAI’s revenue in 2025 was about three times that of Anthropic, but the gap is narrowing rapidly, The Information said.
ChatGPT weekly active users were about 920 million at the end of February, up 10 million from several weeks earlier. Weekly active users of OpenAI’s coding agent Codex reached 2 million at the end of January.
OpenAI raised its revenue forecast for the next five years. It set a target of up to $284 billion in revenue in 2030. It also expected to pour $665 billion into server-related costs by 2030. The time it expects to turn cash flow positive is 2030, two years later than Anthropic.
