Park In-gyu (박인규), head of the Science and Technology Innovation Office, held bilateral talks on Thursday with Christopher Skeete (크리스토퍼 스킷), Quebec's minister of international relations and the Francophonie, at a conference room of the Science and Technology Advisory Council Support Group. They discussed cooperation measures in AI technology and strategic economic sectors.

Park and Skeete shared the status of cooperation between South Korea and Quebec in AI, including joint research and personnel exchanges, and discussed ways to expand cooperation. Quebec's AI research institute, the MILA Institute, expressed an active willingness to cooperate with South Korea and proposed cooperation measures.

Park said cooperation between Canada, which has strong AI technology, and South Korea, which has strengths in AI semiconductors and manufacturing capabilities, would contribute to scientific and technological development and stronger industrial competitiveness in both countries. He said discussions are under way on bids for a submarine project between South Korea and Canada, and that he would work to ensure synergy by actively cooperating in scientific and technological aspects such as AI.
