[DigitalToday reporter Seulgi Son] The Personal Information Protection Commission said on Feb. 5 it appointed eight new members to the Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee. Their terms run for 2 years from that day until Feb. 4, 2028.

The appointees are experts in areas including artificial intelligence (AI), data and victim relief: Jeong-ho Gwak (곽정호), a professor in the Big Data AI Department at Hoseo University; Byung-il Kim (김병일), a professor at Hanyang University Law School; Hana Kim (김하나), an attorney at law firm Duyul; Hyun-soo Kim (김현수), a professor at Pusan National University Law School; Min-soo Shin (신민수), a director at the Consumer Together Association; Eun-gyu Lee (이은규), head of Human Rights Solidarity SOOM; Han-bon Lee (이한본), an attorney at law firm Jeongdo; and Kyung-jin Cha (차경진), a professor of Management Information Systems at Hanyang University’s College of Business Administration.

Under Article 40 of the Personal Information Protection Act, the committee is composed of up to 30 members from fields including academia, the legal profession, civic society, consumer and business groups to provide rights relief for damage caused by personal information infringements.
