Kakao said on Feb. 5 it will run promotions on KakaoTalk Gift and Tokdeal for the Lunar New Year holiday, covering everything from holiday preparations to gifts.

KakaoTalk Gift will hold a planning exhibition centred on popular Lunar New Year season products through Feb. 18. It will propose items in major categories such as food, beauty, vouchers and living and kids, and will also offer a curated selection of premium delivery products ranging from Korean beef to jewellery.

It also prepared exclusive products such as Jung Kwan Jang Hwalgi Might, Spam Kakao Edition, Nudeight tea collection and Orga sesame oil and perilla oil set. It expanded benefits by offering an instant 10 percent discount, capped at 20,000 won, for payments of 150,000 won or more using KakaoPay Money.

It will also run a sharing event. Through Feb. 8, users share a Lunar New Year greeting message with friends and are automatically entered when a friend logs in. The top 3 winners will receive an LG StanbyME. In the second week, it will give random coupons to users who share a New Year bow greeting card.

On its shopping platform Tokdeal, it will run Tokdeal Week through 5 p.m. on Feb. 9. It will offer discount coupons from 5 percent to as much as 7 percent depending on purchase amount. It will then sell holiday food at reasonable prices through a relay series of planning exhibitions: a value-for-money fresh market on Feb. 9, food bests on Feb. 13 and special prices on processed foods on Feb. 16.

It will also run a Lunar New Year planning exhibition for Gift for Biz for corporate customers. Customers can buy gift certificates and delivery products at once, and convenience was improved through a method in which recipients enter their address directly and a 100 percent refund policy for unused items.

A Kakao Shopping official said, "We structured it so users can take care of everything from holiday preparations to gifts at once through Gift, Tokdeal and Gift for Biz." The official added, "We hope both individual and corporate customers experience reasonable shopping."
