LG CNS said on Thursday it will work with AI semiconductor company FuriosaAI to develop NPU (neural processing unit)-based AI services and target the public AX market.
The two companies will strengthen cooperation within the "independent AI foundation model" project in which they are participating as part of an LG AI Research consortium. LG CNS will optimize AI service performance based on K-EXAONE that applies FuriosaAI's RNGD and will commercialise it to maximise synergies. FuriosaAI will provide stable RNGD supply and offer technical support related to NPUs.
Through the partnership, the two companies plan to further strengthen a sovereign AI ecosystem made up of a homegrown AI model and services, infrastructure and AI semiconductors, and to provide services optimised for the public AX market.
As a first step, LG CNS will apply FuriosaAI's NPU to the infrastructure that runs AgenticWorks, its in-house enterprise agentic AI platform, to conduct technical verification. The two will also demonstrate performance optimisation technology for NPU-based GPUaaS (GPU as a Service).
Kim Tae-hoon (김태훈), vice president and head of LG CNS' AI Cloud Division, said, "Through cooperation with FuriosaAI, we will secure NPU-based AI infrastructure technology capabilities and specialised personnel so that customers can use agentic AI more efficiently." He added, "We will support the advancement of the national representative AI model in cooperation with LG AI Research and contribute to the development of the domestic AI industry."
