Woori Financial Group said on March 8 it held a Women Leaders Networking Day on March 6 at its headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, inviting female leaders from across the group.
The event, held to mark International Women’s Day, brought together for the first time about 80 female department heads from headquarters divisions across 17 affiliates, including Tongyang Life Insurance and ABL Life Insurance.
The event was designed to spread an organisational culture that respects diversity and to respond proactively to domestic and overseas ESG assessments. Attendees strengthened partnerships for mutual growth under the theme, “Connection and growth, women’s leadership that leads the future.”
In an invited lecture, Park Myung-shin (박명신), a vice president at Woori Card and one of the group’s representative female executives, delivered the first talk on coaching leadership for growing together. Park shared concerns from her career path and growth process and conveyed the importance of balancing leadership with communication and feedback within an organisation.
Choi Ji-eun (최지은), managing director for Meta’s Asia-Pacific headquarters, then took the stage as an invited external speaker.
Chairman Lim Jong-ryong (임종룡) stressed that diversity is an essential strategy directly tied to a company’s sustainable growth. He said he would continue to refine systems so as to expand the role of female leaders in core functions. He also called on participants to become reliable supporters for one another and further strengthen synergy within the group.
