Woori Bank partnered with LG Uplus to hold a special voice phishing prevention training session for foreign students staying in South Korea, stepping up efforts to strengthen financial consumer protection.
The training held on March 5 was arranged to proactively respond to rising financial fraud targeting foreigners. With international students who have struggled to access information due to language barriers in mind, the lecture was delivered in Chinese to improve its effectiveness.
At the session, the two companies drew on their expertise to share practical response strategies. Woori Bank explained fraud prevention know-how and impersonation tactics, while LG Uplus introduced the telecom environment exploited for voice phishing and recent blocking cases. That helped students learn ways to respond that can be applied immediately in daily life beyond simple theory.
A Woori Bank official said, "Foreign students may be vulnerable to financial fraud due to language and institutional differences," adding, "We will continue to expand prevention activities for foreign customers through cooperation with various institutions."
