[DigitalToday reporter Hojeong Lee] LG Electronics will introduce the 2026 LG Gram, using a new material employed in the aerospace industry and an in-house AI model to strengthen both durability and intelligence.

LG Electronics said on Jan. 1 it will unveil the LG Gram Pro AI 2026 for the first time at CES 2026 in Las Vegas on Jan. 6. The new model features strengthened on-device AI functions by incorporating LG AI Research’s large language model EXAONE 3.5.

Aerospace new material Aerominum targets ultralight weight and high strength

The biggest change in the 2026 LG Gram is its material. LG Electronics has newly applied Aerominum, mainly used in the aerospace industry. It is an alloy of magnesium and aluminium, with the advantage of being lightweight while offering strong durability.

That keeps the 16-inch Gram Pro’s body weight at 1,199 grams, maintaining its ultralight identity. Scratch resistance improves by more than 35 percent from the previous model, and it passes seven items of the U.S. Department of Defense reliability test (MIL-STD).

EXAONE meets Copilot as multi-AI gets stronger

AI functions have also become more advanced. Along with Microsoft’s Copilot Plus PC features, LG Gram provides Gram Chat On-Device based on LG’s own AI model, EXAONE 3.5.

A representative feature is My Archive, which searches and summarises files stored on the PC without a network connection and understands context to answer questions. It also supports Time Travel, which finds a user’s PC work history or restores data deleted by mistake.

Inter-device connectivity has also expanded. Beyond linking with mobile devices on iOS and Android, it supports Gram Link from this year, enabling file sharing and screen extension with devices running webOS such as TVs and monitors. It also newly adds Secure Lock, which protects data remotely in case of theft.

Intel or AMD options available; rolling launch from Jan. 6

Users can choose between an Intel Core Ultra processor, focused on graphics performance, and the AMD Ryzen AI 400 series, focused on power efficiency, depending on their needs. The 16-inch model has a 77Wh battery, allowing up to 27 hours of use.

LG Electronics plans a rolling launch of seven new models, including the Gram Pro AI and Gram Pro 360 AI, starting with its domestic online brand shop from Jan. 6.

Lee Choong-hwan, head of LG Electronics’ Display Business Division and a vice president, said, "The 2026 LG Gram will be the new standard for AI PCs, strengthening its ultralight identity by applying high-strength new metal materials for the first time, while providing a more advanced AI experience."
