Epic Games Store posted its best-ever result in third-party PC games last year.
On Feb. 4, Epic Games Store announced its 2025 results and key plans for this year. It said third-party PC game user spending last year rose 57 percent from a year earlier to $400 million, the highest on record. Total spending in its PC segment also rose 6 percent to $1.16 billion.
User metrics also climbed. Monthly active users on PC surpassed 78 million, a record high. Free game downloads totaled 662 million, driving user inflows.
It said strengthened developer support policies also contributed to growth. Epic Games introduced a new revenue-sharing model under which developers take 100 percent of net revenue up to $1 million a year. For amounts above $1 million, the existing 88-12 split applies.
Epic Games plans to focus this year on upgrading the platform and expanding social features. It will improve the launcher structure to raise loading speed and stability, and build a community space. In the second quarter, it plans to add voice chat and an independent party feature for games.
It will also roll out in the first half a developer sales support programme that uses Fortnite's global influence. As the first partners, major South Korean game companies including Capcom, Pearl Abyss, Mintrocket and Kakao Games will participate. Users who purchase participating games will receive Fortnite items and avatars.
An Epic Games official said, "We are working to build a fair and open marketplace for both players and developers," adding, "We will continue to work to strengthen developer support and enhance the user experience."
