Samsung Electronics said on Monday it is taking part in the AHR Expo in Las Vegas from Feb. 2 to 4 local time, unveiling heating and cooling products tailored for North America and an AI-based integrated device management function.

Samsung Electronics displayed a wide lineup of HVAC products, from residential to commercial. Key products include the Hylex R454B outdoor unit, which applies inverter technology to a unitary system commonly used in North America, the Mono R32 lineup of residential EHS products based on a heat-pump method, the AI-based large-capacity DVM S2+ system air conditioner and the Bespoke AI WindFree air conditioner.

The exhibition was filled with products that apply refrigerants with a low global warming potential, taking into account U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations on refrigerant transitions. The Hylex R454B uses R454B refrigerant, which lowers global warming potential by about 78 percent compared with existing R410A refrigerant. The Mono R32 HT Quiet and DVM S2+ apply R32 refrigerant, which has a global warming potential about 68 percent lower than R410 refrigerant.

Samsung Electronics also set up an experience zone for SmartThings Pro, an AI-based B2B solution that provides integrated building device management and energy-saving functions. SmartThings Pro provides high energy efficiency and integrated space management functions tailored to various forms and purposes, including residential spaces, offices and commercial buildings.

Through the SmartThings Pro dashboard, users can see at a glance real-time energy use, energy-saving points and routine-based automation functions. Visitors can experience automation that turns on lights and opens curtains when SmartThings linked to a door lock detects a user arriving home, the Quick Remote function that allows appliances to be controlled easily by phone, and the AI Saving Mode function that optimises power consumption by monitoring electricity use.

Samsung Electronics is targeting the North American HVAC market by establishing a joint venture with U.S. HVAC company Lennox in 2024. Last year, it strengthened competitiveness in the global HVAC market by acquiring FlaktGroup, Europe's largest HVAC equipment company. Flakt has a sales and service network spanning the Middle East and Asia, centred on Europe and the Americas. It is also expanding its influence in global markets by taking part in Stargate, a global project to build ultra-large AI infrastructure.

Lim Sung-taek (임성택), a vice president of Samsung Electronics' DA Division, said visitors can experience not only the performance of individual HVAC products but also strong heating and cooling and efficient energy management functions based on AI and connectivity in a space designed like a real environment. He said the company will strengthen leadership in the global HVAC market through HVAC innovation optimised for various space types and purposes.
