Johnson Controls International said on Feb. 3 it has appointed Kim Geon-su (김건수) as chief executive to strengthen smart building solutions and service capabilities tailored to the Korean market. Kim joined Johnson Controls in 2025 as head of sales for Northeast Asia and will now also serve as chief executive of its Korean unit.

Kim led sales and service organisations in Northeast Asia and North America, including South Korea and Japan, at global companies including Baker Hughes, Oracle and GE.

Johnson Controls Korea plans to respond to the acceleration of the digital transformation of domestic building infrastructure, provide customer-focused smart building solutions and address sustainability challenges, based on Kim's global sales experience and leadership.

Johnson Controls provides a building technology portfolio that includes HVAC, fire, security and control. Through its AI-based smart building system, OpenBlue, it supports energy savings, improved equipment uptime, better space efficiency and an improved occupant experience.

“As demand for AI and data centres grows, the importance of energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions is greater than ever,” Kim said. “Based on global leadership in providing solutions for mission-critical infrastructure and environments, Johnson Controls Korea will continue to present solutions and a long-term vision optimised for the domestic market through sustainable innovation,” he said.
