Global AI company DeepL said on Monday it has launched the DeepL Voice API, which offers real-time speech recognition and translation.

The new API supports developers integrating real-time speech recognition and translation into applications. When audio is streamed, users receive speech recognition results in the source language, and real-time translation is available into up to 5 languages.

It targets industries where voice communication is central, such as customer centres and business process outsourcing (BPO). Companies can reduce the burden of staffing by language and improve the efficiency of multilingual customer support.

Gonzalo Gaiolas (곤살로 가이올라스), DeepL's chief product officer, said, "We can provide tools that enable real-time communication without language barriers, allowing customer support teams to expand their roles."

DeepL will also run a six-week early-access programme for a voice-to-voice interpreting function from mid-February. The service will be provided to DeepL API Pro subscription customers.
