SK Telecom said on Feb. 3 it will run a special promotion, in partnership with Hana Card, for customers using T Roaming and the "TravelGO debit card."

SKT and Hana Card will pay 20,000 Hana Money, which can be used like cash, at the end of the following month to customers who sign up for the baro plan and make overseas payments of at least 100,000 won using the Hana TravelGO debit card. The TravelGO debit card is a travel-focused debit card launched by Hana Financial Group in partnership with Visa. It allows real-time currency exchange and overseas payments anywhere in the world 24 hours a day through a mobile app.

The promotion runs through March 31. Customers who want to participate can access the application page through an event banner on T World or within the Hana Pay app, then press the button to join the event. Performance is counted from the moment they press the "T Roaming mission" button on the event page while using the baro plan overseas. Customers can receive the benefit when they pay at least 100,000 won with the TravelGO debit card.

SKT expects the promotion to provide useful benefits to overseas travel customers, as it includes the Lunar New Year holiday period. Family travellers can also use "family roaming," which lets up to 5 people share data by adding 3,000 won to the baro plan.

For example, if a family of 4 uses the "baro 6GB (39,000 won) plan" together with family roaming and also receives the 20,000 Hana Money benefit, the perceived cost falls to about 5,500 won per person.

SKT is also strengthening additional benefits for baro plan customers. It will extend through next month 31 a benefit that provides up to 2 uses, depending on the subscribed plan, of a 20 percent discount on the T in-flight Wi-Fi service or free access, so customers can enjoy uninterrupted communications service from inside the plane right after departure.

He added, "We will continue to enhance T Roaming so that customers can use high-quality communications services overseas without 부담."
