Following Microsoft, Google said it would continue to provide Anthropic’s AI technology in areas other than defense projects.

CNBC reported on March 6 that after the U.S. Department of Defense designated Anthropic a supply chain risk, a Google spokesperson stressed: "This decision does not prevent cooperation with Anthropic in areas other than defense-related projects" and "Anthropic products will continue to be provided through Google Cloud."

Amazon, the top cloud provider, has not yet issued an official position.

Google offers Anthropic’s Claude model through its Vertex AI platform and has also invested $2 billion in Anthropic. Anthropic uses Google Cloud AI infrastructure to train its models and recently expanded the partnership to enable the use of 1,000,000 Google tensor processing units (TPUs).

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei (다리오 아모데이) said the company is reviewing legal action over the supply chain risk designation, and some defense technology companies are recommending employees use OpenAI products instead of Anthropic models.
