[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] Cybersecurity startup Cylake said on March 5 local time it raised $45 million in seed funding. The funding round was led by venture capital firm Greylock.

Cylake offers a security platform that operates within a company’s own infrastructure. It targets organisations that cannot store security data in the public cloud due to regulation, security requirements and operational risks. Its goal is to implement AI-based security without sending data outside.

Cylake is led by CEO Nir Zuk (니르 주크), the founder of Palo Alto Networks. Co-founder Wilson Xu (윌슨 쉬) led an engineering organisation at Palo Alto Networks for more than 10 years. Ehud Shamir (에후드 샤미르) co-founded SentinelOne and later worked as an engineer at Palo Alto Networks.

The Cylake platform collects operational and security data from various sources, including network infrastructure, endpoints, cloud workloads and existing security tools. The collected data is integrated into a single data layer, and machine-learning models and automated processes detect anomalous patterns. Unlike existing security platforms that send data to cloud-based analytics tools, all analysis is handled within the customer’s infrastructure.

Cylake plans to use the funding to enhance its platform for organisations that want to implement AI security without giving up control of their data.
