Wconcept, a Shinsegae Group fashion platform, said on Thursday it appointed Lee Ji-eun (이지은), executive director in charge of Merchandise 2, as its new chief executive. It is seen as an effort to strengthen competitiveness in the fashion segment, which accounts for 80 percent of its platform, by appointing a fashion specialist as CEO.

Lee is a fashion specialist who has built her career at fashion companies such as LF and Kolon. She is also Wconcept's first female chief executive.

Lee was born in 1972 and graduated from Gyeonggi Girls' High School and Chung-Ang University's department of clothing and textiles. She served as design director at LF in 2008 and as executive creative director overseeing the menswear division in 2010, before serving as head of the CN division at Kolon Industries FnC in 2021.

She joined Wconcept Korea in September last year as executive director in charge of Merchandise 2 and oversaw categories including activewear.

A Wconcept official said, "In an intense competitive environment in the fashion market, we plan to re-examine the core capabilities of the fashion vertical platform and strengthen fundamental competitiveness."
