[DigitalToday reporter Sang-yeop Oh] President Lee Jae-myung (이재명) on Thursday defined drug crime, public sector corruption, voice phishing, illegal real estate activity, large malicious tax arrears, stock manipulation and major industrial accidents as seven “abnormalities” and stressed the need to prepare measures to eradicate them.
Lee said at a senior secretaries and aides meeting he chaired at Cheong Wa Dae that efforts to normalise abnormal elements inside society must underpin moves to overcome waves of crisis coming from outside.
He said society-wide systems must be improved fairly, transparently and rationally so the era of abnormalities, where breaking rules brings profit and keeping rules brings losses, must end.
He said perceptions must take root that being caught while seeking unfair gains results in economic losses so severe that recovery is impossible, and that it could ruin a person. He called for faster revisions to related systems if necessary.
Lee said that even when systems are fairly well arranged, many do not work properly or sufficiently. He urged that existing systems be thoroughly enforced.
