Smilegate Futurelab said on Thursday it is recruiting participants for the youth artificial intelligence (AI) video production workshop “Prompt to Film 2026.”

Prompt to Film 2026 is a program in which teenagers use AI as a creative partner to produce short AI films and take part in a screening. It supports short AI film-making that expresses the world from each participant’s perspective in collaboration with AI. It also helps participants discover “their own story” as they imagine their future and career path.

The program consists of a “foundation workshop” and an “AI film workshop.” The foundation workshop builds understanding of the latest AI creation tools such as Gemini, Midjourney and Kling AI, and strengthens the basics of generating and expressing ideas using them. The AI film workshop then expands ideas developed in the foundation workshop to produce a short film using AI. Futurelab plans to raise the quality of the works through peer-learning feedback, expert mentoring and group coaching.

Futurelab plans to screen completed works in a special Futurelab section at the Busan International Kids and Youth Film Festival (BIKY). Futurelab last year debuted 7 short AI works made by teenagers through a “Futurelab Youth AI Cinema Special Exhibition” at BIKY.

Applications are open until Feb. 24. Applicants must submit an item reflecting their “experience thinking about the future and career paths,” along with an AI-generated image expressing themselves or an AI video of 10 seconds or less. Applications can be made on the official Futurelab website.

Baek Min-jung (백민정), head of the Smilegate Futurelab Foundation Center, said the program was designed to help teenagers explore the possibilities of AI as a creative partner and use technology proactively. She said she hopes for strong interest and participation from teenagers who want to reconstruct the world in their own language.
