Hanwha Solutions declared safety management to eradicate serious industrial accidents. Hanwha Solutions' chemical division said on Jan. 29 it held a leader safety forum at its Yeosu plant. CEO Nam Jeong-woon (남정운) and Ahn In-soo (안인수), head of production safety, attended along with members of the safety, health and environment management committee. Executives at major sites including the Seoul headquarters and Ulsan and Daejeon also joined in real time via live video.

An industrial safety consulting firm introduced real accident cases in the petrochemical industry and also covered the latest policies and trends at the forum. Discussions were also held on safety leadership diagnostics and implementation measures. Hanwha Solutions plans to strengthen its accident-prevention management system with leaders at the center.

Hanwha Solutions' chemical division operates a safety and health management committee made up of key executives including Nam. The goal is to build sites with no accidents and no industrial disasters. It introduced an Internet of Things-based real-time smart disaster prevention platform. A safety leadership coaching programme for supervisors and a mentoring programme for junior employees are also under way.

The company is also running a compliance campaign for "Safety Golden Rules," which are essential on-site safety rules. All of these programmes are aimed at strengthening safety on site.

Nam said, "Serious industrial accidents must be thoroughly eradicated, and the organisation's leaders must fulfill their responsibilities and take the lead in preventing accidents." He added, "I hope leaders at each site will set an example to achieve workplaces with no accidents and no industrial disasters."
