Cubig (CUBIG), a data utilisation infrastructure company, said on Jan. 28 its SynData v1.0 synthetic data quality and safety verification program received a GS (Good Software) Grade 1 certification.

The company said synthetic data is drawing attention as use of sensitive-information-based data expands across the public sector, finance and healthcare, reducing the risk of personal information exposure. It added that without an objective explanation and proof of whether synthetic data is actually useful (Utility) and whether re-identification risk is sufficiently controlled (Privacy), use often stops at stages such as external opening, internal AI training and external collaboration. SynData supports filling this “verification gap.”

SynData automatically analyses synthetic data generated by users and supports evaluation and verification of synthetic data quality and safety based on key indicators including distribution similarity to original data, statistical consistency and the level of personal information protection.

The company stressed that it is designed to go beyond simple summary scores, providing threshold-based interpretation, a baseline that helps determine whether it can be used, and detailed class-level analysis. It added that this allows early identification of quality degradation or privacy risks that could arise in specific segments or classes.

Cubig plans to use the GS Grade 1 certification to spread a standard flow of “synthetic data generation → verification → utilisation” across sensitive-data industries including the public sector, finance, healthcare and manufacturing, and to expand field application for building synthetic-data-based AI-ready data.

Cubig CEO Ho Bae (배호) said, “Making synthetic data usable is more difficult than making it.” He said SynData is a tool that objectively proves whether synthetic data can be put into actual work and AI training. “With this GS certification officially recognising the reliability of our verification system, we will fully open a flow in the domestic synthetic data market that goes beyond ‘generation’ and leads to ‘utilisation’,” he said.
