South Korea's National Information Society Agency (NIA) held the "AI Innovation Forum for Public Institutions Relocated to Daegu" on Jan. 28 with nine public institutions relocated to Daegu at the auditorium of the Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS), it said on Jan. 29.

The forum was organised as a follow-up to a memorandum of understanding signed on Dec. 18 to promote the use of AI among public institutions relocated to Daegu.

Attendees included NIA and heads and officials from the nine institutions relocated to Daegu: the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund, Korea Gas Corp, the Korea Education and Research Information Service, the Korea Real Estate Board, the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Private Schools, the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, the Korea Industrial Complex Corp and the Korea Student Aid Foundation.

Participants shared AI strategies at their organisations and discussed ways to cooperate to introduce and expand AI in the public sector. NIA shared the performance and future plans of its AI Supporters programme, which supports AI use by public institutions. It also presented its own AI transformation strategy and examples of good use cases.

NIA President Hwang Jong-sung (황종성) said the forum provided an opportunity to share AI performance among the public institutions relocated to Daegu and to lay the groundwork for practical collaboration. He said NIA would continue to actively support public AI innovation led by the region through technical exchanges and cooperation among public institutions.
