LG Uplus said on Wednesday that cumulative donations from its executive-participation social contribution fund, which it has continued for 9 years to spread a culture of sharing, have exceeded 350 million won.
The sharing activity, voluntarily joined by all executives at managing director level and above, creates the fund by deducting a fixed amount from monthly pay. Cumulative participants since 2017 have reached 600. This year, 68 executives including CEO Hong Beom-sik took part and raised about 40 million won.
Donations collected by executives so far have been used to build "Hope House" to improve housing and facility environments for housing-vulnerable groups. As of last year, a total of 17 homes had been completed.
This year's funds were used for the "119 Memorial Day" event held in cooperation with the National Fire Agency to honor firefighters who died in the line of duty. The 119 Memorial Day held in November is a memorial running festival that remembers firefighters' dedication and sacrifice and conveys gratitude.
An LG Uplus official said, "As sharing activities directly joined by employees and executives have spread, a corporate culture that spreads bright energy has taken root." The official added, "Going forward, all employees and executives will continue to contribute together to 'creating a bright world' through the active spread of a culture of sharing, along with a customer hyper-focus strategy and differentiated competitiveness."
