KT conducted AI capability-building training for public school teachers.
KT said it ran AICE training for 220 elementary, middle and high school teachers at the KT Pangyo Building AI Campus from Jan. 13 to 28. AICE is an AI competency certification test designed and operated by KT. It verifies AI understanding and application skills by level.
The training was prepared in line with the government's policy direction for making AI part of everyday life for all citizens, focusing on teachers so AI education can be stably established in public schools.
KT split the AICE curriculum by level and concentrated hands-on, practice-focused programmes to raise AI understanding and classroom application capabilities. It introduced the AICE qualification system, provided practice-focused training on AI problem-solving, shared cases and know-how for applying it in education settings, and offered opportunities to take the AICE certification exam.
In particular, the AICE Future and Junior grades are linked to AI-related achievement standards covered in practical arts (technology and home economics) and information subjects under the revised 2022 curriculum. Teachers can naturally link and use AICE in school classes. KT explained that this provides a basis to teach step by step within subject classes, from understanding AI concepts to problem-solving and practical application skills.
Young-sim Jin (진영심), an executive director in charge of educational business cooperation at KT, said, "KT plans to build an AI competency certification system that connects public education and industry through AICE, and to work to create a sustainable AI education ecosystem that aligns with the government's policy direction."
