[DigitalToday reporter Ji-young Lee] Sh Suhyup Bank said on Tuesday it has established a bank-wide consumer protection management plan and will work to embed a financial consumer protection culture across the organisation, reaffirming its management commitment to “practical implementation of consumer protection.”
The bank earlier held an “employee rally on strengthening financial consumer protection” during its 2026 management strategy meeting attended by branch managers nationwide and about 220 staff members.
On the day, employees pledged and reaffirmed their resolve to carry out all tasks thoroughly from the perspective of consumer protection, and to faithfully fulfil their responsibilities to protect the rights and interests of financial consumers and improve the quality of financial services.
The bank said it has worked to ensure financial consumer protection is reflected across its operations through steps including creating a consumer protection inspection team, operating a staff panel system called “Consumer Protection Guardians” to improve systems centred on financial consumers, and introducing dedicated service counters for the elderly, people with disabilities, customers accompanied by infants and young children, and pregnant women, as well as a voice conversion service for contract documents for the visually impaired (Voiceye).
This year, it plans to implement a more advanced bank-wide consumer protection management plan by closely checking risk factors from the product development stage and strengthening preventive internal control activities by product life-cycle stage.
Chief Executive Shin Hak-gi (신학기) said the headquarters and branches will work in close cooperation so consumer protection can be practically implemented in actual workplaces, and the bank will become one that customers trust more.
