Global AI agent startup Liner said on Tuesday it launched a standalone research-focused AI service, Liner Scholar, based on academic knowledge worldwide.

Liner Scholar embeds a vast academic database of 460 million records worldwide. It aims to serve as an “AI co-researcher” system in which AI interacts with researchers in real time and produces outcomes together.

Liner said Liner Scholar, which separates the existing “academic search mode” into a standalone domain, provides a workflow optimized for professional researchers. Liner explained, “Separately from Liner, the general AI search service, areas that require advanced expertise and logical reasoning complete the knowledge exploration spectrum through Liner Scholar.”

Liner Scholar provides agentic research functions that understand research context and make its own decisions to execute tasks. Research agents such as hypothesis generation and citation recommendations, previously provided separately, are integrated within projects.

Liner Scholar orchestrates agents on its own to produce optimal results. Users can, through conversation with AI without the hassle of running agents one by one, carry out multi-angle comparative analysis of prior research results, search for three-dimensional evidence for hypotheses and review the validity of experimental designs.

Liner Scholar supports immediate use in research by allowing users to upload individual research materials to projects, including unpublished drafts they hold, experimental data and references, as well as publicly available academic data. It accurately grasps the context of the documents and reflects the content in line with user requirements.

Liner plans, through continuous updates, to build a one-stop agentic research environment that can complete all research processes within a single project workspace. Liner Scholar officially supports four languages, including Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese, and also provides an interface tailored to the desktop web environment.

Jin-woo Kim (김진우), chief executive of Liner, said, “Liner Scholar will be a core driver of the era of vibe research, where researchers can interact perfectly with AI and deliver results without cumbersome learning.”
