Neptune said in a regulatory filing on Jan. 27 that its board has approved a merger with Triplea, its wholly owned unit.

Neptune said it decided on the merger to improve management efficiency through business integration between the two companies and to boost corporate and shareholder value. The merger date is April 1.

Triplea is a mobile game developer that Neptune acquired in September 2021 to globalise its casual game service capabilities. It has mainly developed hybrid casual games in the tycoon (management simulation) genre.

Triplea's "Cat Snack Bar", launched globally in early 2023, surpassed 10 million cumulative downloads in about three months after release. It has recorded 45 million cumulative downloads and 40 billion won in cumulative revenue to date, becoming a flagship title that marked the start of Triplea's cat series. After posting 26.8 billion won in revenue and 3.0 billion won in operating profit in 2023, Triplea recorded 52.1 billion won in revenue and 6.37 billion won in operating profit in 2025 through consecutive hit successes of its "cat series" mobile games and a diversified lineup.

Huh San (허산), chief executive of Triplea, said the company plans to continue developing a range of games beyond the cat series and will also start a publishing business by seeking developers at home and abroad with growth potential. He said the company will focus on raising its corporate value as part of Neptune.

All Triplea employees are set to be placed after the merger in a newly created department at Neptune in charge of hybrid casual games.
