ONE store said on Jan. 27 it selected SmartNow's Joseon Hyeopgakjeon Classic as its top beta game for December.

Joseon Hyeopgakjeon Classic is a classic massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that modernises the intellectual property (IP) of Joseon Hyeopgakjeon, released in 1998. Players take on the role of a hyeopgak before and after the Imjin War and experience "Joseon on another timeline" amid historical events.

It introduced a "free diamond system" to improve accessibility so players can enjoy enough content without making payments. It also supports cross-platform play between mobile and PC based on a dedicated user interface optimised for the PC environment.

SmartNow began full-scale operation of the Joseon Hyeopgakjeon IP starting with Joseon HyeopgakjeonM in 2021. Based on know-how accumulated through experience launching various games, it has led Joseon HyeopgakjeonM for 4 years and is set to mark the fifth anniversary of its service in April.

SmartNow CEO Song Hyun-doo (송현두) said, "We are presenting a new Joseon Hyeopgakjeon to users who remember the past Joseon Hyeopgakjeon, and we are focusing on pursuing the essential fun of the game." He added, "We are preparing bold attempts to present Joseon Hyeopgakjeon in new ways, so please take interest."
