Jeju Special Self-Governing Province’s local gift certificate, Tamnaneunjeon, has completed a transition to a new operating system, Tamnaneunjeon 3.0, and has begun service, it said on Jan. 26.
In the transition, the Bizplay consortium, made up of Bizplay and Jeju Bank, migrated data from the previous operator and loaded it onto a new platform. Before the launch, Bizplay staff and Jeju Bank employees visited about 300 affiliated merchants in Jeju to conduct advance payment tests.
The consortium said it achieved both data migration and service stabilisation with only an eight-day service suspension during the operator change.
Tamnaneunjeon 3.0 first adds a function that allows users to gift vouchers to one another. Vouchers can be gifted using only a name and phone number, and non-members can use them after receiving them via an alert message and signing up. Corporate customers can also provide Tamnaneunjeon vouchers as employee benefits or promotional prizes, expanding their use cases.
The Bizplay consortium said it continues to gather residents’ feedback on service improvements and plans to continue function upgrades and service advancement by setting priorities through consultations with Jeju Special Self-Governing Province.
Bizplay and Jeju Bank will also push in earnest a strategy to expand QR merchants centred on Tamnaneunjeon 3.0. They plan to expand payment infrastructure so domestic tourists visiting Jeju can buy vouchers and pay immediately after downloading the Tamnaneunjeon app without being issued a separate card.
A Bizplay official said, "To align with the administrative direction of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Bizplay mobilised its company-wide capabilities and made special efforts." The official said, "With cooperation from related institutions and support from Jeju residents, we were able to successfully complete all tasks, including system improvements, card company linkage and data migration, in 45 days."
