Tezos has rolled out its 20th protocol upgrade, Tallinn, and cut block creation time to 6 seconds, Cointelegraph reported on Jan. 25 local time.
The upgrade supports faster transaction processing by shortening block creation time, reducing storage costs and minimising network delays.
The Tallinn upgrade improves the network so validators, or bakers, can verify every block. Previously, only some validators checked blocks, but the change is expected to strengthen network stability and security. Tezos said an address indexing mechanism removes duplicate address data and improves storage efficiency by 100 times.
Tezos stressed that the upgrade will raise transactions per second and shorten settlement time, enabling support for a range of blockchain use cases.
