Apple plans to announce a Siri assistant equipped with Google's Gemini AI in mid-February, a Bloomberg reporter who covers Apple wrote on Jan. 25 local time.
The update is the first outcome of AI innovation Apple promised in June 2024. It is designed to use users' personal data to carry out tasks.
Apple plans to announce a more powerful upgrade at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. The new Siri could also run directly on Google cloud infrastructure as a ChatGPT-style conversational AI, Bloomberg reported.
Apple is said to have experienced a significant amount of trial and error related to AI. There were also rumors of internal conflict. In response to articles reported by Mark Gurman, Apple's AI chief Mike Rockwell called them "false claims."
