Apple is increasingly likely to work with Intel to produce iPhone chips.
9to5Mac reported on Jan. 23, citing a report by market analyst Jeff Pu, that Apple plans to entrust Intel with producing iPhone chips for non-Pro models from 2028.
Pu said Intel's 1.4-nanometre-class process is likely to secure orders from Apple, AMD and Nvidia.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also forecast Intel would produce lower-cost Apple M processors from 2027. He said those chips are likely to be used in iPads and some Mac models. Apple is still expected to keep designing its own chips and use Intel as an additional manufacturing partner alongside TSMC.
That means Apple would not adopt Intel chips again, but would entrust Intel only with production.
