Lego has unveiled a proprietary wireless charging system for its smart bricks, TechRadar reported on Jan. 23.
The smart brick is a core element of Lego’s smart play system and is designed to be charged even when assembled. Lego has built a system differentiated from existing wireless charging through its proprietary smart brick charging method, TechRadar reported.
Tom Donaldson (톰 도널드슨), head of Lego Creative Play Lab, said, "We designed it so you can charge the smart brick not only by placing it on a charging pad, but also while it is assembled." He added, "This is not just technology, but a philosophical approach to maintaining the play experience."
The smart brick can be charged even when assembled into a Lego model. A smart brick mounted on a Lego car can receive power when it runs over a charging pad or parks on it.
A Lego smart play Star Wars set currently on sale includes a first-generation wireless charger and can charge up to 2 smart bricks at the same time. It is similar to the concept of Apple AirPower, which did not happen, but is different in that it is a product that has actually been released, TechRadar reported.
