Precision parts maker Gitech said on Jan. 23 it received a purchase order worth $1.72 million, about 2.5 billion won, from a North American battery manufacturer for slot dies. Slot dies are key components used to coat active materials uniformly when making secondary battery electrodes. Gitech said its precision machining technology met the customer’s quality standards.

The company expects the deal to become a long-term revenue source rather than a one-off sale. It cited the customer’s practice of reselecting products already verified on existing mass-production lines, and additional demand for consumable replacements and maintenance after slot die supply.

The North American battery market continues to grow as electric vehicle adoption expands. Gitech supplies products to battery manufacturers in and outside South Korea with its slot die manufacturing and refurbishment technology. A Gitech official said, "This order shows that our technological capabilities meet global battery market standards," and added, "Based on trust with customers, we will expand our market share in North America and build a foundation for earnings growth in 2026."
