Samsung Electro-Mechanics posted a 108 percent rise in fourth-quarter operating profit from a year earlier. Wider supplies of components for AI accelerators and servers led earnings growth. It also recorded its highest annual sales since its founding.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics said on Friday it posted 2025 fourth-quarter sales of 2.9 trillion won and operating profit of 239.5 billion won. Sales rose 16 percent and operating profit gained 108 percent from a year earlier.
For full-year 2025, sales came to 11.31 trillion won and operating profit totalled 913.3 billion won. Sales increased 10 percent and operating profit rose 24 percent from a year earlier. Samsung Electro-Mechanics recorded its highest annual sales since its founding.
The fourth-quarter increase was driven by demand for high value-added products for AI, automotive and servers. The company said it expanded supplies of MLCCs for AI and servers and FCBGA for AI accelerators.
The component unit posted fourth-quarter sales of 1.32 trillion won. That was up 22 percent from a year earlier. Sales fell 4 percent from the previous quarter due to inventory adjustments at year-end, but wider supplies of MLCCs for AI and servers and power MLCCs lifted performance.
The package solutions unit posted sales of 644.6 billion won. That was up 17 percent from a year earlier and up 9 percent from the previous quarter. Supplies increased for high value-added package substrates, including FCBGA for servers and AI accelerators for global big tech firms, FCBGA for autonomous driving systems and BGA for mobile application processors.
The optical solutions unit posted sales of 937.2 billion won. That was up 9 percent from a year earlier and up 2 percent from the previous quarter. It started supplying differentiated camera modules for high-performance IT products and increased supplies of camera modules for automotive uses such as global electric vehicles.
This year, the markets for AI, servers and automotive uses are expected to continue growing on expanded global investment in AI infrastructure and rising adoption of autonomous driving. Samsung Electro-Mechanics plans to strengthen its lineup of high value-added products related to AI and automotive uses.
In the component unit, it will expand supplies of high value-added products for AI and industrial uses, including servers and networks. It will also strengthen its lineup of high-capacity and high-voltage MLCCs for automotive uses in response to wider adoption of ADAS. In the industrial and automotive markets, investment in AI infrastructure and broader ADAS adoption are expected to drive demand growth.
The package solutions unit expects solid demand for high value-added FCBGA for AI, servers and networks, due to strong growth in the data centre market. It will raise sales by supplying package substrates for AI accelerators and networks to new big tech customers. It also plans to establish a supply strategy in preparation for full operation of production lines in the second half.
The optical solutions unit will respond to advances in automotive ADAS and an expansion in new applications such as humanoids. It will increase supplies of specialised automotive products such as heaters and water-repellent coatings and focus on developing smartphone camera modules with differentiated technologies such as slim designs and optical zoom. Samsung Electro-Mechanics also plans to build growth foundations over the mid to long term, including glass substrates and components for humanoid robots.
