Shinsung E&G said on Thursday it has been certified as a family-friendly exemplary company under a programme overseen by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. The certification is granted after the ministry conducts a comprehensive review of the level of operation and performance of family-friendly systems at companies and public institutions.
Shinsung E&G said it has supported stable working lives and sought to minimise career breaks caused by childbirth and childcare, with the goal of creating a work environment that considers employees' life cycles. It said it was highly evaluated for exemplary operation of family-friendly systems such as support for childbirth and childcare and flexible working arrangements.
As of the third quarter last year, 13 employees were using parental leave. The retention rate for 12 months or more after parental leave was 100%. The company said it supports employees in balancing work and family in a flexible working environment through staggered commuting hours. It said it is boosting employees' capabilities through structured training programmes and is raising job satisfaction by combining welfare benefits designed to encourage long-term employment with support for self-development.
It said it is also working to improve employees' quality of life by supporting regular health check-ups and providing welfare points. It said it has established a prevention-focused industrial safety management system by conducting risk assessments across worksites, regularising safety education for domestic and foreign workers, and conducting emergency response drills.
It also said it is expanding social contribution and environmental protection activities as part of its ESG management practices. It conducts local community sharing activities, environmental protection campaigns and plogging activities on a regular basis. It said it is building a measurement and management system to cut carbon and improve energy efficiency, centred on its ESG management steering committee. It said it received an A grade from ESG rating agency Sustinvest and a B grade from the Carbon Disclosure Project, or CDP.
A Shinsung E&G official said the certification was the result of sustained efforts to create an organisational culture in which employees can work while balancing work and family with peace of mind. The official said the company will continue sustainable growth through creating a family-friendly work environment and responsible ESG management.
