South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT said on Wednesday it will invite proposals for three pilot projects to link and use corporate data, together with the Korea Data Agency (K-DATA).

The programme is a full revamp of a mydata pilot project that has been pursued since 2019. It moved away from a personal data-use policy and expanded data users to include corporations, such as corporate entities and individual business owners. The target data are corporate data that do not include personal information, such as sales, export items and transaction details.

Support will go to consortia made up of at least two institutions holding corporate data and at least one institution using it. Applying AI technology is a required condition, and selected projects will receive up to 700 million won. Total support is 2.1 billion won.

Choi Dong-won (최동원), director general for artificial intelligence infrastructure policy at the ministry, said, "We will push ahead so that innovative AI transformation (AX) services can be created and spread across all industries by expanding the target to corporate data."
