Kakao's CA council said on Thursday it will overhaul its organizational structure. It said the move is aimed at strengthening execution for full-scale growth and speeding up decision-making, based on results from two years of efforts to shore up management fundamentals since the council was formed.

Under the overhaul, the CA council will shift from a system of four committees, two chiefs and one unit to a structure of three offices and four heads. It aims to reduce the size of the organization, streamline the structure and raise flexibility. The CA council has upgraded its management system while pursuing intensive governance efficiency to strengthen the group's cohesion. It said the goal is to shift gears toward growth based on consolidated capabilities.

Three newly created offices - the Group Investment Strategy Office, Group Financial Strategy Office and Group HR Strategy Office - will focus on supporting areas that require group-level decision-making and implementation, including mid- to long-term investment and financial strategy and upgraded HR systems. Kim Do-young (김도영), head of Kakao Investment, will concurrently serve as head of the Group Investment Strategy Office. Shin Jong-hwan (신종환), Kakao's chief financial officer, will concurrently serve as head of the Group Financial Strategy Office. The Group HR Strategy Office will be led by Hwang Tae-sun (황태선).

Direction-setting and coordination for ESG, PR, PA and compliance management within the group will be handled by Kwon Dae-yeol (권대열), head of Group ESG, Lee Na-ri (이나리), head of Group PR, Lee Yeon-jae (이연재), head of Group PA (Public Affairs), and Jung Jong-wook (정종욱), head of Group compliance management, respectively. The CA council's organizations in each area will be transferred to Kakao's headquarters to focus on on-the-ground execution.

The new organizational system is set to take effect on Feb. 1.
