Google has applied its personal intelligence feature to AI Mode, an AI-based search function, a week after introducing it to the Gemini chatbot, SiliconANGLE reported on Thursday.

Personal intelligence provides personalised search results when users link their Gmail and Google Photos data.

With the update, AI Mode can search data not only on the public web but also in a user’s Gmail and Google Photos.

For example, if a user searches for a coat for a trip, AI Mode provides customised recommendations that consider the destination (Chicago in March) and timing, using not only preferred brands but also flight confirmation information from Gmail.

AI Mode runs on Gemini 3. Gemini 3 Pro, an advanced algorithm, handles complex queries, while simpler requests are designed to be handled by a lighter model. AI Mode can display answers that include structured numerical information in spreadsheet form, or generate complex graphics such as constellation simulations.

Google plans to expand personal intelligence further in AI Mode. It is expected to add links to third-party applications beyond Gmail and Google Photos and to provide customised features for corporate users.
