Hana Financial Group said on Thursday it held an opening ceremony for the side-dish meal box manufacturing facility 'Nanum Aechan' in Yeonsu District, Incheon, to support the creation of senior jobs.

Nanum Aechan is a community co-growth project linking senior employment that Hana Financial is running with local governments. Yeonsu District provided the space, while Hana Financial built the cooking facilities.

Attendees included officials from Hana Financial and the Yeonsu District office, the Community Chest of Korea in Incheon, the Korea Senior Employment Development Institute and senior workers hired at the facility.

Nanum Aechan means sharing care through side-dish meal boxes made with love. It employs middle-aged and older job seekers in the Incheon area who are willing to work across manufacturing, packaging and delivery, contributing to local job creation. The completed meal boxes will be delivered to about 350 households, including vulnerable youths and elderly people living alone.

Ingredients needed for meal production will be sourced first from local agricultural and fisheries direct markets and small merchants, also aiming to strengthen neighborhood commercial areas. The project plans to sell various snack foods at low prices to local residents in the future to ensure the sustainability of the senior employment program.

Jeon Byeong-kwon, regional head of Hana Bank's Gyeongin business division, said the initiative is expected to contribute to creating senior jobs in the Incheon area, supporting vulnerable groups and building a sustainable virtuous cycle in the local economy. He said the group will continue to practice inclusive finance with sincerity so senior customers are respected and can enjoy healthy lives.
