South Korea's National AI Strategy Committee said on March 5 it will write and manage the results of meetings and discussions by subcommittee in markdown (.md) format and publish them on the committee website.
Markdown expresses document structures such as titles, paragraphs and tables of contents using simple symbols, making it suitable for AI learning and processing. The committee said existing Hangul documents use complex formatting such as fonts, letter spacing and symbol tables, making it difficult for AI to accurately recognise sentence and paragraph structures.
The committee said meeting result documents are high-quality data that accumulate public decision-making. It plans to convert them into markdown so companies can directly use the accumulated policy data for AI model development and service innovation.
Lim Moon-young (임문영), the committee's standing vice chair, said, "This shift in the document system will be a starting point for changing how the government uses AI and its work culture."
